This is a 6000-watt dual-element infrared heater that mounts on a wall or ceiling, warms an area of roughly 11 ft by 11 ft, and runs at about 68 cents an hour — which is roughly a third of what the same evening costs on propane.

Choosing Your Voltage and Finish

This is where orders go wrong, so read this bit. Have your electrician confirm the site voltage before you order. The unit is hardwired and built for a specific voltage — it cannot be changed afterwards.

  • 208V — common in commercial buildings and some multi-unit properties.
  • 240V — the usual choice for a US home or a residential rental.
  • 277V and 480V — commercial and industrial installations.

Finish is cosmetic: stainless steel at $995.95, or black and white at $1,095.95. Black tends to disappear against a dark soffit; stainless suits modern and coastal properties.

Why Infrared Rather Than a Blower

Infrared heats people and surfaces directly instead of trying to warm the air around them. That is what makes it work outdoors, where any air you heat immediately drifts away. The dual quartz elements are warm within seconds, so there is no waiting for the space to come up to temperature, and the honeycomb fascia keeps the glare soft rather than glaring into people's eyes.

Mounted at eight to twelve feet with the brackets tilted where you want the heat, it stays out of the way visually. There is an optional flush-mount kit if you want it recessed into a soffit and effectively invisible.

Will it work under a pergola or open sky? Under a pergola or covered patio, yes, and that is where it performs best. Fully open with wind on three sides, infrared still beats propane but you should size up or add a second unit.

Can it get wet? It is IPX4 rated, so splashing and rain-driven spray are fine. It is not meant to sit in standing water or take a direct hose.

How high should it go? Eight to twelve feet. Lower than eight and the heat is concentrated and uncomfortable; higher than twelve and it thins out before it reaches anyone.
